MAISON DIPTYQUE PARIS CELEBRATES VILLA NOAILLES

Past Event. For the centenary of Villa Noailles, Diptyque held an extraordinary exhibition curated by director Jean-Pierre Blanc.   The exhibition, at the Maison Diptyque, illustrated once again the unique relationship between Diptyque and the Hyères-based institution in a celebration of art and design. 

« This remarkable collaboration has provided these talented artists with the opportunity to create original pieces, transforming iconic Diptyque candles into true works of art. A beautiful project, it blends the world of visual arts with that of haute parfumerie and pays tribute to a century of creativity and innovation. In the process, the metamorphosed candles embody the essence of Villa Noailles: a place where art and culture meet to inspire and amaze. »

WORKS OF COLOUR AND SCENT
Jean-Pierre Blanc gave ten young French artists carte blanche to dream up designs for the large Lilas (Lilac) and Romarin (Rosemary) candles.  Chosen for their diverse techniques and their ties to illustration and design – means of expression dear to the Maison – the artists created ten pieces inspired by the villa's architecture, its founders Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles, and its surrounding landscape.

These artist editions, produced in a limited series, can be found in the pop-up space at the Maison Diptyque Paris (7 Rue Duphot, 75001 Paris). Profits from their sale will go to Villa Noailles as part of Diptyque's long-term support for the institution.

ABOUT VILLA NOAILLES

Villa Noailles was one of the first modernist houses built in Europe. Designed in 1923, the rationalist villa was made for Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles by Robert Mallet-Stevens and hosted the avant-garde artists of the 20th century. Named a Contemporary Art Centre of National Interest in 2017, Villa Noailles has been open to the public since 2003 and offers – under the direction of Jean-Pierre Blanc – a programme revolving around fashion, design, architecture, photography and interior design.
